Howdy and Booking Through Thursday

Thanks for everyone's concern about the illness that hit the house. Both Little Diva and Little Rage succumbed to it, but they are fine now(knock on wood). DH is on vacation this week so not much knitting or blogging is getting done here--hopefully I'll have something to report at the next Stashalong update.

You Stashalongers are a talented group---I love coming to visit your blogs and seeing what you're up to!

  1. What do you think of celebrities who write biographies when they're only twenty-something? I think if you have done something that is book worthy in your twenties that's great, but usually it seems to me they are trying to cash in on their fame.

  2. Have you read any? The only "famous" biography I have read would be Marilyn Manson's and he's not that famous; I just wanted to see if his youth contributed to how he turned out.

  3. What about novels by people such as politicians? Are they just cashing in on their fame? I think some politician's probably have very book worthy lives(I'm thinking of Bill Clinton specifically--if they can be honest and not try to put a party spin on what they are writing.

  4. Should ghost-writing be allowed or should the true writer get the credit?I think that whoever wrote the book should get the credit.

I think it is funny when a 20 something year old writes a biography, I have never read one, probably will never buy one but if I saw one in the bookstore I might pick it up to get some laughs.

I am sure it is a cashing in on their fame but at the same time a politicans book seems much more worth the time then Ashley Simpson's.

I do think ghost writers should get credit.

Hey, just wanted to make two comments since you stopped by my blog yesterday and I hadn't updated it since week 1 of the stashalong. I'm actually working on a new post today, which should be done by your update tomorrow (though it's all about the NPJ Christmas party and not my stash knitting). Also, I actually am working on another stashed project (well, it was stashed for a very short time, anyway) - a black cashmere feather and fan scarf. However, I'm making it as a gift for my mom's birthday, which is in two days, and so I haven't talked about it on the blog and won't do so until after I give it to her. So, feel free to mention it in the run-down. :) I'm maybe 60% finished. Good thing I have no plans for today and tomorrow! :) That 100% cashmere is like buttah, though...you should definitely get some one day, when you're not de-stashing! ;)

Also, I am actually working on a Secret Project with some yarn from the stash, which you can feel free to mention, though I haven't been doing so in my blog. I'm making my mom a black cashmere feather and fan scarf out of that Mountain Colors cashmere, which is OMG-LIKE-BUTTAH. It's for my mom's birthday, which is in two days, and I'm about 60% done, so I guess I'd better get cracking. Good thing I have no real plans for today and tomorrow, should work out just fine.

Saw your comment at Norma's, Kim, and I see here that Margene is in the same boat. I vote that it's ok as a one-time deal. Now, if everyone is suddenly having the same problem, then we have to revisit it! But since this project was so specific and is for such a great cause...

Sorry I didn't have my blog updated when you stopped by - I hope to post the 2 stashalong FOs I completed over the weekend. Ella and Edgar, both from the Fall knitty, are done. Yeah!!!

Sign ups have ended. EDIT: Sign ups end January 1 at 5pm Mountain time. Anyone interested in using some of your stash in order to make room for some new spring stuff? Join me in a very informal knitalong. Stashalong--Week 2 of 13

How did everyone fair after week 1? My utmost respect goes out to all of you with the fortitude to actually enter a yarn shop and not buy yarn--as I have commented to others, you won't even see me near one in the next 3 months. I'm having so much fun popping in on everyone and I'm not pointing any fingers but I have read some interesting comments and some knitters can be very sneaky indeed--that's all I'll say. I want to introduce you to jillz ; she missed the sign ups so she is not a official member, BUT she has earned the title of "the Rogue Stashalonger". She is trying to take things one month at time. I know we all have our temptations, but she---wait for it---works in a yarn shop! As I told her, I would have cheated before I finished typing if I was working in a yarn shop(much like "The Bet" episode of Seinfeld). Out of Town

Stashalongers : there will not be a post this Tuesday and you have my deepest apologies for that. My Grandfather passed away this morning and I need to get to NY. Everything should be back to normal for our Week 13 of 13 post on the 28th :) I know a few of you have jumped off the wagon and I'll have all that in my post next time. Thanks again for all your prayers and well wishes--he passed peacefully in his sleep and I think that's the best way to go. If there is a lighter side to this, my husband will be alone with my kiddos for more than 12 hours for the first time. You have no idea how badly I want to hide cameras around the house to see what goes on. Happy knitting everyone--no jumping off the wagon while I'm gone!
