Provence est fini :)

Happy Dance time :) I finished Provence Sampler yesterday. It will be a while before I get it framed and I'm very nervous about how it will wash up. Stats: Fabric: 18 count cream wool Stitched: 1 over 2 Thread: Caron Watercolours in Flame Pattern: Provence Sampler--Told in a Garden

A Visit to the Frog Pond. . .

I have been plugging away at Provence Sampler. Here's how far I've gotten: **clickable thumbnail if you want to see a larger version** I had to frog and restitch G through O on the smaller alphabet because it was slightly off. I'm finished with the alphabets and now I just have the bottom border and the numbers to go. Hopefully I can get done in the next couple of weeks.

Therapy

There is nothing more calming to me than the repetitiveness of stitching or knitting. Basking in the warm sun is calming to me as well. Today I got to enjoy it all :)

February Challenge Progress

Image
Here's how far I got on the Provence Sampler in February. I had planned on finishing it but I didn't quite get to it. I did make a big dent though. I'm hoping to put some time in on it this month and finish it so I can start making a dent in some of my other WIPs. I did keep going with my P90X Lean Rotation. I finished phase 2 and started phase 3.

Mother/Daughter SAL Weekend

Image
I pulled out my Provence Sampler to work on while I was teaching Diva. I figured it was simple and I wouldn't get angry if she interrupted me(unlike with a HAED piece where I tend to get cranky if anyone bothers me while I'm working). Before(clickable thumbnail): After(sorry it's so blurry, it's the best from what I took): Diva's Progress: Not too bad for her first ever foray into cross stitch :) And she chose metallic thread. Any of you who have ever stitched with it know what a nightmare it is. It doesn't stay on the needle very well and it doesn't really lay nice without a lot of work but she seems okay with it. Cotton floss will be a piece of cake for her after this. ********************************* P90XLean Day 22: Yoga Recovery Week #1 Yoga was tough today. My balance was off. I don't know if it was because I was tired or what? I still plowed through though.

Provence Sampler

Here's the minimal progress I made this last weekend on my Provence Sampler for the HAEDless SAL. Since I have allowed myself to come to terms with the fact that is piece is off center, I am actually enjoying stitching on it. I love working with just one color--it goes so quickly. But I won't be giving up my big a$$ projects in the near future, no worries there, the single color ones are a good break though.

HAEDless Samper SAL(4/12)

This past weekend was the HAEDless Sampler SAL. I have been working on Provence Sampler using Caron Wildflowers in Flame. I think what is the most fun about this for me is that it seems to progress so quickly. You forget after you have stitched over 1 for a while how much faster stitching over 2 is. And, of course, there is the fact that this piece only uses one color. I think I am only working on one HAED piece with 50 colors(the rest have 90) so one color is really a thrill for me :) **clickable thumbnail** The picture is kind of bad, it was cloudy this morning and its hard for me to get a good angle on this one.

HAEDless Sampler SAL(3/12)--The Last Rites Edition

I had a fantastic stitching weekend. I completed the entire right border--top to bottom. I was a bit concerned at first when I noticed that I only had about 2 inches fabric allowance on the left side of the fabric. I called the framer I use and they said they could work with 2 inches so I soldiered on. When I reached the bottom, I found out that I barely had any fabric left(about 1.5 inches). This.is.very.very.bad.news. Long painful story short, I have to rip out EVERYTHING I have completed so far. That means over a skein of Caron Wildflowers is wasted; hopefully I can salvage the fabric. I honestly do not think I have the fortitude to restart this particular piece right now; I may change my mind by next month I do not know. This really, really, really, really sucks. I started the piece just after Rage was born and clearly I was in a sleep deprived stupor and started off about 1.5 inches--which unfortunately I did not figure out until I picked the piece back up this year. So bow your h...

I got a few letters done this weekend in between transporting the kiddos around town.

HAEDless Sampler SAL(1/12)

This is the second of the two SALs I'm involved in this year. This piece has been in my WIP pile for quite some time. Stats: Pattern: Provence Sampler(Butternut Road) Fabric: 18 Count Cream Wool, Wichelt Floss: Flame Caron Watercolors Stitched: 1 over 2 I haven't stitched over 2 threads in a long time--those stitches felt HUGE! I love the color but I'm a little worried because I didn't prerinse my threads so I'm not sure if I'll be able to wash it when I finish--not that that will be a problem for a while. In other news, I went with my neighbor to see Sweeney Todd last night. I love most of Tim Burton's stuff and this movie was no exception--what a great cast. I'm just glad I didn't eat before I went because between the blood and the bodies falling down the chute headfirst I thought I was going to puke.
