Project Spectrum 2--New Colors!

Image
Red, Black, and Metallics for the next two months :) And I have the perfect first picture. Yesterday we had a visitor in our back yard. This little one: Diva and Rage were VERY interested in this poor lost soul.

Season Finales vs. Bayerische

Image
This is a post for Wanda (and anyone else, but specifically Wanda). You see; I promised Wanda progress on my Bayerische sock by the next time I saw her. Well, I'm sure I'll see her this evening and I have a story for her beforehand :) Last night I sat down on the couch with my Bayerische sock with the cuff done and I was ready to begin the charts for the leg of the sock. I thought what a great time to work on this; I'll have lots of knitting time because the season finales of "The Office" and "Grey's Anatomy" were on last night. So I begin the charts. I have never cabled without a cable needle and I wasn't about to start on size 0 needles and Lorna's Laces sock yarn. Of course, there is no cable needle(in my possession anyhow)small enough for that itty bitty stuff. So Michelle had suggested that I use one of my seaming needles (and it works great by the way). Anyway, I'm moving merrily along through "The Office" finale. And no...

Project Sp-EGG-trum 2 and Random Thoughts

Image
I don't know if you can tell but the teal one is my lame attempt at a sheep. It's very difficult to decorate a white egg with a white crayon--there's always next year to perfect the technique :) Today I'm sitting here fighting off a sore throat/massive sinus headache/low grade fever and catching up on my DVR viewing. So is anyone out there watching Robin Hood on the BBC besides me? I just can't get enough of that show. Especially Sir Guy of Gisborne . It's good stuff; definitely better than anything else on Saturday night. I've also been watching Blood Ties on Lifetime. I almost never watch Lifetime but my mother(who lives and breathes Lifetime television) saw a preview for this show and thought I would like it. And sure enough I do, not a stretch being that I love all things vampire/supernatural. I love the premise of the series and I have already ordered the books the series is based on by Tanya Huff. I think those will be my summer reading--along with t...

Stitch Markers

Image
Here are my March Project Spectrum Stitch markers; they are a March/April crossover set: I treated myself to some customized Zephyr stitch markers, they crack me up. I'm also working on a couple sets of gift stitch markers; I'll put them up after they've reached their intended recipients.

On/Off the Needles

Image
Off the Needles Pattern: Danica(Knitty) Yarn: Patons SWS Needles: size 9 Thoughts: My first foray into entrelac. It was fun. And not too boring(I generally get really, really, really bored knitting scarves). This pattern would be super stunning in Noro--just putting it out there :) This is also a good project for Project Spectrum 2--lots of blue. What's on the needles right now? What needs to get on the needles soon: 1. my HP House afghan(Hufflepuff squares first) 2. a doll and a unicorn for Little Diva 3. some socks

PS2 and First Thoughts on my HP House Blanket

Image
I spent yesterday knitting up some test swatches for a new project looming on the horizon. I'm sure you have noticed that since the release of Mason Dixon Knitting there have been quite a few log cabin blankets popping up throughout blog land. Well, before Mason Dixon came out Sally Melville's Color book was out(I think Color came out first anyway--I had the Color one before I bought MDK). I bought it and the only reason I did was for the log cabin pattern in it. As soon as I saw it the first thing I thought of was Harry Potter. I thought about making log cabin squares using the for house colors then putting them together into an afghan. I have never jumped into the realm of changing a pattern to suit my personal vision, so there were a couple obstacles in the way. How much yarn to order? Would the squares looked the way I envisioned them made with only two colors? Would the blanket look the way I envisioned it when all the squares where put together? Luckily I had two balls le...

Project Spectrum 2--First Finish

Image
I have my first Project Spectrum finish. I went out yesterday and found some beads I liked, then I used the handy-dandy stuff my SP6 pal gave me and made these. They are by no means perfect but they are a good start. Let me just say that making stitch markers is a real fiddle-y business. Why doesn't wire just cooperate already?! I don't want to give any future projects away, BUT I did find some skull charms that just may find their way into a future project :)

Project Spectrum 2

It's time for Project Spectrum. I had a lot of fun last year; even if all my lofty goals didn't come to fruition. This year I've decided to try and set more "realistic" goals. With that in mind, here are my plans for this time around: Make a set of 4 stitch markers using each of the PS2 colorways. I want to perfect my stitch marker technique SO this should give me loads of practice and I'll have some cool stitch markers to show for it. Make an ornament using one or more colors in each PS2 colorway. This one will be doing double duty as I have to make an ornament each month for the Christmas Ornament SAL . When applicable(as in when the colors apply), I'll make one of my large HAED WIPs my monthly focus piece. There may not be a lot of progress, but I'll get to see the color(s) in action. And, of course, try to work in knitting using the PS2 colors whenever I can :) February and March are going to be for BLUE , GRAY , and WHITE . I'm off to look for...
