How Rare is Your Personality?

On the Road and Back. . .

Image
I'm back! I packed up DH, Diva, and Rage in the mini SUV and headed out on the highway to go visit my sister, her husband, Tank, and Banana in Texas. My other sister was there too with one of her brood, Tiny E. As with all family trips it was an adventure. We took two days to drive down--we usually fly and weren't sure what we were in for. We spent the night in "a town that will not be named"--no offense to anyone that lives there, likes it there, has family there, or whatever, but that town has a unique aroma(which smells suspiciously like cow poop). Lots of body function jokes occurred on our stay. We made it to our destination in the Metroplex on day two. Watching the antics of 5 children(ages 7, 4, 4, 3, 1) was time consuming but fun. I had big knitting plans but none really came to fruition--my sisters don't knit and the kiddo craziness wouldn't allow it. We had some good food(including Rainforest Cafe and Uncle Julio's--pictured below, from our seat ...

Christmas Ornie SAL

Image
I got an early start on my ornament this month--this one is actually going to be a two month project, I think. I want to stitch a back for it as well. This was fun to work on. It's amazing how much detail you can get into something that is less than 3 square inches! Project: One of the squares from Red Nine , A Mon Ami Pierre . Fabric: 28 count evenweave, not sure what kind. Floss: DMC Variations #4190

Two Years

Today is my two year Blogversary. It's hard to believe it's been two years since I started; it doesn't really feel like it's been that long. I still feel like I'm trying to find my voice. I blog for fun and I'm thrilled that anyone else is even remotely interested in what I have to say. I've met so many people through blogging--in "real life" and "online"--that has been a great bonus to joining this community. I would have never met my very cool and extremely fun Knitting Crew had it not been for blogging. I remember when I found out we were moving to Colorado, one of the first things I did was search for Colorado Knitting blogs and one thing led to another and I met a great group of people because of it. I was just telling my mother the other day that I love blogging because I meet people from all over the world. Even though we all come from different areas/cultures, we all have something in common, some common ground that ties us all t...

Stitch Markers

Image
Here are my March Project Spectrum Stitch markers; they are a March/April crossover set: I treated myself to some customized Zephyr stitch markers, they crack me up. I'm also working on a couple sets of gift stitch markers; I'll put them up after they've reached their intended recipients.

Booking Through Thursday

I keep forgetting to post for Booking Through Thursday , but I saw today's topic and I couldn't resist:) Booking Through Thursday Speaking of writing in books, what about writing the entire thing? Do you write? Aspire to write? Dream about writing? I do write. I've kept a journal since I was about 15. I call it my "rage journal" as it contains a lot of venting. Rather than tell someone off to their face I put it in my journal. During my college years, that same journal also started to contain some short stories. From about 2000-2004 I did no writing because I was too busy and sleep deprived from the young children thing. In 2005 I successfully completed my first Nanowrimo and in 2006 I did the same. I aspire to be a good writer and I figure the only way to do that is to write and write. Right now I have three original stories and one fanfic going. My 2005 Nano piece which is at about 64000 words right now is only about a quarter of the way through the outline, so ...

Misty Weniera

Start: January 15, 2007-? Fabric: 28 count white Jobelan Stitched: 2 over 1, tent stitch(half cross) SAL weekend is over, so far I've done 3/10 months I'm required to participate. I didn't get a lot done this weekend(I'm up to a little over 3200 stitches). Nice weather, activities with the kiddos, being tired all played into things. I'm starting to get into a confetti intensive section. I may start parking. I'm thinking that I'll mix parking and cross country on this one--the backs of HAED pieces are a disaster anyway. I'm hoping that at some point in the near future HAED will release Deepwoods(another Tracy Butler piece). I really want to stitch that one. There are some artists on the HAED site that are VERY well represented(read saturated); I'm hoping that Michelle and Bob will spread the wealth a little bit. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Belated Birthday Booty(say that 10 times fast)

Image
Thank you, thank you , thank you to the knitting crew for dinner and gifty goodness :) Finally after my two weeks of birthday party madness(mostly prep for Little Diva's birthday weekend), I was able to get together with the crew. Good food, great friends, and knitting what could be better? I got a few cool things for my birthday; check it out: My husband, Diva, and Rage got me a Pandora bracelet as an early birthday gift, because, much like someone else I know, I hate waiting! The cool thing about getting it early was that my other half was able to get me a charm for Valentine's Day--hurray! And Nachaele got me the pretty blue glass charm for my birthday--I love it and it will remind me of you :) Joann, who shares a February birthday with me, got me a habu scarf kit(stainless steel, no less) and for my closet goth some skull needles---I. LOVE. THEM. Seriously, I want to take them everywhere. Thanks so much!! Stacey, Michelle, Tiffany, Wanda, and Jeni got me the gol...

On/Off the Needles

Image
Off the Needles Pattern: Danica(Knitty) Yarn: Patons SWS Needles: size 9 Thoughts: My first foray into entrelac. It was fun. And not too boring(I generally get really, really, really bored knitting scarves). This pattern would be super stunning in Noro--just putting it out there :) This is also a good project for Project Spectrum 2--lots of blue. What's on the needles right now? What needs to get on the needles soon: 1. my HP House afghan(Hufflepuff squares first) 2. a doll and a unicorn for Little Diva 3. some socks

As if I need to start something else. . .

But there are some things that just pull on you. A Bouquet for Cheryl is one of those things. It's a tribute to an amazing stitcher who recently passed away. The pattern is free and there is even a thread dyed specifically for her . The least I could do is stitch this piece in her memory. Pattern: A Bouquet for Cheryl Fabric: 28 count lugana, white Thread: Lumiere de Cheryl I've also finished stitching my February ornament for the Ornament SAL I'm participating in. It's a week late because I sliced my index finger open right before the last SAL weekend(Feb. 23). Kit: Mary Englebreit--from the $1 bin at Michaels
