A Life in Song

I lifted this from Ms. Stitch-n-Snitch :) (If somehow you were under a rock and missed the instructions, you were to put your mp3 player on shuffle and see what randomly-selected song would play the background music to these events in your life.) HAED SAL weekend was last weekend and I really didn't get a lot of time to stitch but there is a little progress. I think I'm heading into one of those busy times of the year where all my "hobby time" is at a premium. Hopefully I can make a bigger dent in this one next month. My goal is to have page one done by the end of the June SAL.

Dream Toys

Image
I got the book Dream Toys by Claire Garland(of Knitted Babes fame). Little Diva took one look at it and had to have the unicorn(without the flowery saddle thing). So off we went to JoAnns so she could pick her colors. After a few weeks of working on it sporadically here's the finished product: Pattern: Unicorn, from Dream Toys(Garland) Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease White/Multi(for body) Lion Brand Wool Ease Gray Heather(for hooves and nose) Lion Brand Moonlight Mohair in Tundra(for mane and tail) Filatura di Crosa New Smoking in Gold(for horn) Needles: size 5 It was a fun project--I was hoping to convince her she needed the mermaid too. You can't tell from the picture but the white is actually white with iridescent thread woven in so it's a sparkly unicorn--which only makes sense. I think it is interesting that it seems to take no time at all to knit a toy up but the assembly takes forever!

Stuff and Nonsense

First, on Cara's post . Karen summed up my feelings about negative comments in her post . Since I fly under the high profile blogger radar, I think I've been spared nasty comments. I knit(and blog about knitting) to relax; I don't want it to be a negative experience and I certainly wouldn't intentionally try to make someone else's experience negative. I lurk a lot on other blogs and I usually don't post comments unless I feel I have something of value to say. If I don't like a post or something someone says, I just move on. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I'm entitled to not read it if I'm so inclined. I had enough of pettiness and hatefulness in high school and I don't intend to revisit that 20+ years after the fact. I can't believe that someone would make assumptions about someone's life based just on their blog?! That baffles my mind. I think you could figure out a little about me through my blog, but probably not too much about...

Project Sp-EGG-trum 2 and Random Thoughts

I don't know if you can tell but the teal one is my lame attempt at a sheep. It's very difficult to decorate a white egg with a white crayon--there's always next year to perfect the technique :) Today I'm sitting here fighting off a sore throat/massive sinus headache/low grade fever and catching up on my DVR viewing. So is anyone out there watching Robin Hood on the BBC besides me? I just can't get enough of that show. Especially Sir Guy of Gisborne . It's good stuff; definitely better than anything else on Saturday night. I've also been watching Blood Ties on Lifetime. I almost never watch Lifetime but my mother(who lives and breathes Lifetime television) saw a preview for this show and thought I would like it. And sure enough I do, not a stretch being that I love all things vampire/supernatural. I love the premise of the series and I have already ordered the books the series is based on by Tanya Huff. I think those will be my summer reading--along with t...

Hogwarts House Blanket

Image
Three words: WE HAVE YARN!! As I stated previously, I wanted to go with the book colors so my Ravenclaw colors are different(bronze instead of gray). Frankly, I like the idea of Ravenclaw using one of the same colors as Gryffindor(instead of Slytherin); I think it says something about where their loyalties lie. Let the knitting begin. 0/36 squares done **sorry the picture is dark--it's really miserable here today.

April Goals

Here's what I need to accomplish "hobbywise" this month: 1. Start and hopefully finish 1 of my April/May Project Spectrum 2 socks-- didn't get any sock knitting done 2. Finish my Hufflepuff squares for my Hogwarts House Blanket-- done 3. Participate in the SAL weekend(13-16) with Misty Weniera-- done 4. Finish Diva's Unicorn(the knitting is done--I just need to assemble)-- done 5. Finally, for Losin' Knit over at Peertrainer I need to exercise for at least 15 minutes a day-- I only worked out 6 times--lame
