Rotation?

Image
It seems that I am always on a quest to find more time to fit in all the things I would like to do. Crafting is a such a passion of mine but finding the time to fit it all in is challenging. I really want to make progress on my stitching works in progress so I have decided to try a rotation. I will work on these three pieces--finishing one page before I move on to the next: 1. Ink Circles--The Bramble and the Rose(as of today) 2. HAED QS Swimming with Dolphins(as of today) 3. HAED I Love Thee(as of today) I really want 2012 to be the year of "finishes" instead of "new starts" ;)

October Stitching

Image
First of all, where did this month go? I feel like it passed in a blur and as I have been sitting here pondering what exactly I accomplished this month I am hard pressed to remember what happened in September and what happened in October--this year seems to be quickly flying to a close. I do know that I made a dent in one of my HAED WIPs, I Love Thee(Seed). I am not sure how well you'll be able to see if from the pictures but I filled in a lot of stitches around Aragorn's bangs-- did you know this piece was a tribute to Arwen and Aragorn ( look here for other pieces in her Romance Series )? The stitched piece I am working on differs slightly from the original art pieces but the characters contained within are the same. I absolutely love working on this one and I am hoping to finish the two pages I am currently working on by the end of the year. Before(at the end of September): After:

HAED Background SAL

I pulled out I Love Thee for the HAED background SAL. I just love this piece. Before: After:

I love thee, I Love Thee

Last weekend there was a HAED SAL for backgrounds and I have no shortage of pieces that need background stitching done. I decided to work on I Love Thee(Seed) for a couple of reasons: one, it is on my yearly goals to finish two pages on this piece and two, I love the piece. This piece is kind of an experiment in HAED stitching. Normally I start all my HAED pieces in the top left corner, this one I started in the middle AND I am flying without a net and not gridding. I figured this was a good piece to experiment with as it doesn't have that many colors. When I sat down to stitch this weekend I realized that in order to work on background I need to work a page above where I was. Now I am in no way brave enough to try and count my way to the top of a page that I am not currently working on--for me I think it would be stitching suicide especially on 28 count over 1--SO I decided to work my way up to the background. I ended up doing a kind of reverse parking method. I worked from right ...

I worked on Misty Weniera for HAEDs SAL this past weekend and as you can see I got very little done. Only 400 stitches in the bottom left. The other night I picked up I Love Thee for some more work. I had to frog a majority of the black you see there and it sucked. Frogging stinks anytime, but it really stinks when it's over 1 black on white. It's all better now though :) The black on it seems really. . .harsh(I'm not sure if that's the right word), but I trust the chart. **both pics are clickable thumbnails** Nano'07: 22,500/50,000 I'm a little bit behind but my goal is to be over 30,000 words by Monday. I couldn't write last night--I was SOOOO tired. I've literally been nodding off at my keyboard, so I thought I'd take a break last night hopefully it helped.

Stitching Weekly

Stitching Weekly has been missing for a few weeks as you may have noticed. Between our trip, recovery from the trip(which is still ongoing for Little Rage), and Halloween, things have been pretty busy at casa KIP. Now I'm finally getting into the swing of things again--just in time for my November Nanowrimo madness(but that's a whole other story). May I present to you I Love Thee . I am LOVING working on this so far. I have been wanting to try one of HAED's monochromatic charts for a while and it was a toss up between this one and Motherhood which also comes in this form if you're not into mermaids.. (I still want to stitch Motherhood at some point) Stats: Pattern: I Love Thee--Seed--Heaven and Earth Designs Fabric: 28 count white lugana(I think, I didn't mark it before I stashed it) Stitched: 2 over 1, tent

This past weekend was the HAED Background SAL, so I pulled out Storykeeper which is mostly background. I love the idea of a set background SAL; every piece has background and having a set SAL for working on it would be great. If the board doesn't do one, I think I may set aside the first weekend of every month for background. I didn't participate in QS Wednesday this week for a couple of reasons: 1. I am only aiming for 3 Wednesdays a month and I've done my three for September. 2. I have a new start that has captured my attention. I started I Love Thee on Monday night(24Sept07). Right now I'm in a heavily white on white section of the chart. There is no point in putting up a WIP picture until I get a little further into it. You don't want to see white and white--not to mention that you can't actually see it in a picture. Heck, I can barely see it when I'm working on it. Hopefully I'll have some exciting progress to show on this one next week. **knitte...

I got the kiddos to bed last night and spent some time on Little Diva's Swimming with Dolphins while watching Prisoner of Azkaban(I NEVER get tired of that movie--I think Order of the Phoenix will be the same once I get it on DVD). Here's the result: I also managed to get out over the weekend and buy this: Isn't it pretty? Click away on the picture to see what all that floss will turn into. I need a new start like I need a hole in the head but I've been wanting to try a monochromatic chart and I love this one.
