IHSW--November 2013

Image
It's been a long time since I have done one of these weekends.  I actually have a new start this weekend-- Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery's 12 Days of Christmas.   I am going to be working on the border and I want to get it done before the main subscription starts on November 29.  I'm hoping to use this piece to gear up for a big stitching project that I want to start in January, I think the fact that this project comes out in scheduled intervals will help me get back into working on a deadline.  I haven't had any stitching mojo in well over a year so I need to start with something small like this to build up my speed again :)   12 Days of Christmas (Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery) Fabric:  Picture This Plus Crystal Ale, 32 count Lugana Floss:  DMC and Weeks Dye Works I was able to fit in some stitching time during football yesterday.  Only 2.5 more sides to go on the border.

WIPocalypse 2012--May Edition AND IHSW

Image
International Hermit and Stitch Weekend : I am going to be doing a combo of IHSW AND WIPocalypse for May because this is literally the only stitching I have done in about 6 weeks.  I will be focusing on HAED QS Lovers(BB SAL). The Drawn Thread 12 Houses Sampler--DONE I finished 12 Houses Sampler(Drawn Thread) and worked on QS Lovers(see previous post for pictures--I didn't want to post the same thing twice). I have also been knitting and even though this is a SAL I figured I would share what has been taking up most of my time. As you can see I have a TON of ends to weave in before I put this thing together then I have to get some backing fabric on it and mail it out to my cousin.  That's what has been taking up my crafting time over the last month. Over the next month I am going to pull out one of my Ink Circles pieces, I think. Posting Progress on the full moon dates...

WIPocalypse 2012--March Edition

Image
In the last month I have started a new stitching project, 12 Houses Sampler from The Drawn Thread. That's the only stitching I have been doing because I have some obligation knitting to get done--God willing I will have pictures of THAT to share for next month :) This is where I am at in 12 Houses: I haven't done anything on it since I last posted on it, so I'm just recycling the picture. The current WIP/UFO list: 1. Ink Circles The Bramble and the Rose 2. Ink Circles Blackstone Fantasy Garden 3. HAED QS Swimming with Dolphins 4. HAED I Love Thee 5. HAED Eternal Promise 6. HAED Storykeeper 7. HAED TTK 8. HAED Misty Weniera 9. HAED Mini Home is Where the Magic Is 10. HAED QS Lovers (BB SAL) 11. More Houses

Image
I worked on the 12 House Sampler again this weekend and I got a few more houses added. This has been such a relaxing stitch.

IHSW--February Edition--After

Image
International Hermit and Stitch Weekend : I spent Friday and Sunday working on the 12 Houses Sampler. It's been a welcome break from my HAED stitching. Just enough specialty stitches to keep it interesting and I like breaking it into easy pieces. I work through one house or tree at a time--seems to go quicker for me that way :)

IHSW--February Edition--Before

Image
International Hermit and Stitch Weekend : I was going to work on my redo of page 1 of HAED QS Lovers BUT I decided to take this weekend and start something new. . .something without confetti stitching. . .something to cleanse the palette as it were. . . My local cross stitch shop, Fancimats and More, had a trunk show a few weeks ago for The Drawn Thread , I may have picked up a few charts when I went over to check it out. One of them may have been 12 Houses Sampler and that will be what I am starting over this IHSW weekend. Stats: Fabric: 28 count "Summer Khaki" Cashel Linen Thread: 2 over 2

WIPocalypse 2012--February Edition

In the last month I have: **Worked on my #9 piece, Home is Where the Magic Is, during IHSW. BEFORE: Here is where I ended up on it before I switched up: AFTER: **Finished the first page of my #10 piece, QS Lovers; of course, I have since had to restart the page due to the fact it looks like someone slapped this girl in the face. I should have more progress on it next month. Happy Stitching!! It was going so well. . .

Image
BUT, clearly something has gone wrong. I finished the first page of QS Lovers and there is a glaring problem. Can you spot it? Does it look like this chick has a screaming case of rosacea or has possibly been slapped hard in the face? I have done a million things to try and figure out what went wrong with her face--bought new floss, took everything to the cross stitch shop to have another pair of eyes look at it, posted it on the HAED BB--all my floss is the correct color and the only thing that makes sense right now, if it is not a charting error, is that I did something wrong. I think I have pinpointed it to a specific color(DMC 224). There is NO WAY I am frogging over 1 stitches on 28 count SOOOOOO that means I get to restitch the ENTIRE page all 7,840 stitches. Right now I am too angry to redo it and therefore I will be letting it set until February. Onto other things for a couple of weeks.

WIPocalypse 2012--January Edition

Image
I have been focusing on my #10 piece on the WIP list. It was a new start on January 1. I am loving the big blocks of color at the top, I credit that for my progress so far--who knew you could get so far when the confetti monster isn't around ;) Stats: Fabric: 28 count, antique white evenweave Stitched: 2 over 1, tent If I can keep at the pace I'm going on this one, I should finish this page by Thursday which will let me move on to other things on my list :) I actually I have two deadline knitting pieces I need to work on so that's why I'm pushing so hard with this one now--I really want to be able to finish this SAL piece by the end of the year. HAED QS Lovers (BB SAL) Speedy stitching, ev...

IHSW--December Edition--Before & After

Image
International Hermit and Stitch Weekend : It's a new start for me this weekend. I can't wait to fit in some stitching time! After: Stats: Name: HAED Home is Where the Magic is(mini)Spangler Fabric: 28 count white evenweave Stitched: 2 over 1, tent I had more time to stitch than I thought. This is my first "mini" and there is a noticeable loss of detail which is interesting to me because the piece still has 90 colors. I am interested to see how this stitches up. I like that it is fewer pages but I think I'll miss the detail. Happy Holidays, IHSW Stitchers!

IHSW--November Edition--Before & After

Image
International Hermit and Stitch Weekend : HAED Eternal Promise(Stewart--retired) Before: Eternal promise 18nov11 , a photo by KnitterinProgress on Flickr. After: Eternal Promise 22nov11 , a photo by KnitterinProgress on Flickr. I will be keeping this piece out unti I finish this page. I seem to have an amazing talent for choosing HAED charts that are chucked full of confetti--it is a good thing I enjoy a challenge. I am also competing in National Novel Writing Month this month which takes up almost all of my free time, I am at 26,208 words of my 50,000. I am a little behind but I am quickly gaining ground. I hope to be done by next weekend.

Stitching Mojo has returned!

Image
I haven't had the urge to stitch in a long time but lately that has changed and my desire to stitch has come back with a vengeance. I am testing out a rotation in preparation for the WIPacolypse in January. I finished the second page of this piece last night. That ocean floor is riddled with confetti but then again most of this piece is--lots of detail=lots of different colors :) Pattern: Heaven and Earth Designs, QS Swimming with Dolphins (Tate) Fabric: 28 count evenweave Threads: 2 over 1, tent Pages complete: 2 In other news, Nanowrimo 2011 is off to a slow start for me. 2600/50000 words complete. Looking forward to some writing time tonight.

Riding the Crafting Wave

Image
Still feeling the crafty mojo here and I love it! It feels so good to have the energy to work on my favorite things AND to be able to carve out the time. For the first time in well over a year I pulled out one of my HAED projects. QS Swimming with Dolphins(Nadia Tate/Heaven and Earth Designs) I put about 600 stitches in over the last week. You can see the before pic in this post from September. I am going to be working on this one until I finish the page I am on. Knitting is also getting done--hopefully I will have some progress to show soon. I am working on 2 blankets, a pair of footie socks, cupcake themed fingerless mittens, and the Cambridge shawl.

Cooler Days+Earlier Nights=Crafting Mojo

After months of feeling very blah about all my crafting activities, I feel my crafting mojo coming back with a vengeance. I have gone through the house and located all my stitching WIPs. And in the past week I have added four projects to my knitting WIPs. My stitching WIPs are in the sidebar and, as I mentioned before I will be working on those in a rotation--switching up after I finish a page(since they are all multi-page pieces). I have two knitting pieces that are deadline pieces: an afghan and a mitered baby blanket . I have two pieces that are my "travelling" knitting pieces(ie. they fit in my purse and are in the car with me all the time): Rage's socks and the Baktus scarf . Then there are the pieces I added because I like them: Cambridge and Cupcake Mittens . Oh, I also have a pair of socks I would like to start during Socktoberfest :) **All the links above are Ravelry links** I don't want to leave out sewing either. I have a strip quilt and Amy But...

Let the Games Begin!

Image
Fabric, floss, and pattern ready: Just waiting for Opening Ceremonies to begin, so I can begin :)

Done with Practice, Ready for the Games

Image
I have been working on Blackstone Fantasy Garden as an Olympic warmup. I finished the main design and now I'm just filling in. This will actually be set aside until after the Games. I love how it looks.

Olympic Warmup

Image
I figured I should transition my mind from knitting to stitching if I plan on meeting my Olympic goal of starting/finishing Ink Circles The Bramble and the Rose , so I pulled out Blackstone Fantasy Garden(also by Ink Circles) in order to get my mind and fingers back in the stitching groove. I started this piece quite a while ago and have just pulled it out of the WIP pile. Stats: Fabric: 28 count white evenweave, the exact type I can't remember Floss: I'm changing the colors from the original piece. So far I've used DMC 814(the reddish color) and DMC 803 (the blue). I'll be using DMC Impressions floss for the rest of the piece. Stitched: 2 over 2 I'm hoping to have all the outlining done before the Olympics starts. When I first picked this back up at the beginning of January I only had about 1.5 pages done(of the outlining)--now I only have 2 of the 9 pages left before I start filling in :)

I only worked on this last weekend; it was a perfect project to work on while sitting on the balcony in Breckenridge. Before: After: **clickable thumbnails**

HAED Stitching

Image
Before: After(a couple of days of stitching since the last pic): **clickable thumbnails** I have been trying to meet my goal of putting in 1000 stitches per week on one of my HAED pieces and already I am a little bit behind but nothing I can't catch up on.
