A weekend in the mountains. Just looking at the pictures is relaxing, ahhhh.

Practice, Practice

Before I made the fobs I mentioned yesterday for the group, I did a couple of trial runs. One is my black, white, and gold/yellow fob in honor of. . .you guessed it. My Stanley Cup Champion Pens! I love it! The other is all sushi--which is by far my favorite food.

Crafty Goodies

Every year a few of the Knitting Crew get together for a trip to mountains for knitting, eating, and general merriment. This year we were all tasked to contribute something to the gift bags. I decided to make scissor fobs. For those who are unfamiliar a scissor fob is hooked onto one of the scissor handles and its length helps you find your scissors in a cluttered bag. I suppose you could also use them as a zipper pull or general decoration as well. Here's what I came up with: I just used a jumble of different glass beads. Each fob has two cupcakes, a piece of sushi(not everyone in the Crew likes sushi but I do), a knitting element(yarn, sweater, or sock), and a drink. They all have a charm on the bottom that says "Love Much, Laugh Often". I had fun making them and they were much easier than I thought. The tutorial can be found here .

Recipe for a perfect weekend.

Last weekend, I was lucky enough to be invited to attend our knitting group's annual trip to the mountains for a weekend of knitting, laughing, and eating which has been dubbed Camp WannaKnitKnit. It is the highlight of my summer. Here's what you need to make it happen: Knitters: 14 awesome knitters and great friends! An idyllic setting: Yarn(to knit with, to admire/fondle, etc.): Food: It would be so easy to just eat out or microwave a bunch of stuff but, just like with our knitting, we don't keep it simple. This year we had crepes, Hawaiian food, and a southern breakfast. And the "dessert"--a gift bag: The gift bags get better and better each year. This year we were given Piddleloop bags, Jelby stitch markers, and Red Rocks Fiber Works yarn in a Camp WannaKnitKnit colorway(and there is one part of the gift bags that wasn't quite ready for the weekend--I'll post it's picture later). We also made dpn holders--mine are devil/pirate ducks, pirate skulls,...

Tres Campy

How's this for a dreamy knitting spot? The tranquil Rocky Mountains with only the sounds of nature to knit by. . .that and 7 other knitters :) That was the last weekend in July for me. My second trip to Camp Wanna Knit Knit. Quite a few of the other attendees have already blogged about it. For the three part thorough wrap up visit Sheep in the City . The company of fellow knitters who are also great friends was gift enough for the weekend, but one of the joys of camp has become the gift bag. Here's this year's haul: The crowning glory of this year's bag was our own colorway from Hello Yarns. How cool is that?! I'm not really sure how we're going to top this year's goodies but I'm already on the look out for some camp worthy stuff for next year :) **Also, I need to thank Stacey because I lifted the gift bag pics from her :)
