Spiderman(aka. Rage) and Hermione(aka. Diva) ready for school! I loved, loved, loved doing things for the Hermione costume--it almost makes me like Halloween. I wish she dressed like that for school everyday :)

Psuedo New Start

Remember when I started the Textured Blanket(ie. the Dexterity Blanket from Hell)? I wanted to make my cousin a blanket for her upcoming baby and I thought the Textured Blanket would be cool and it would be if it wasn't such a pain in the butt to knit. I'm thinking that when you are hating every single row you are knitting that is probably NOT the best gift to give a new baby since baby gifts should be given with love. SO I ripped it out and started anew with this:

The Corner to Corner blanket from Knit Baby Blankets by Gwen Steege. Things are going much better and I'm already passed the halfway mark. I can honestly say that THIS version is knit with a whole bunch of love.

There and barf again. . .

The KIP household packed up the mini-SUV and headed out into the great unknown last week. . .well actually not the great unknown, we went to visit family in the Metroplex(DFW/Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas).

Read on at your own risk(and not while eating).

Now this is anywhere between a 15 and 17 hourish drive and I was looking forward to a few hours of knitting time in between my turn driving and catering to Diva and Rage in the back seat. The weather was great for the drive down, but every time I tried to knit I felt like I was going to puke. I never get carsick but I was during this trip--if I wasn't looking out in front of me, I was feeling sick. We made it to the Stinkytown that must not be named(which actually wasn't that stinky this time) which is halfway and checked into the hotel. On Wednesday afternoon we made it to DFW.

Then came Thursday morning. . .

Rage gets up at about 5:30am and pukes all over my sister's kitchen and wakes up everyone in the house. (**why is it that kids don't puke at a decent hour; it's always at odd hours) We get him cleaned up, locate a "barf bucket", and put him back to bed. He wakes up a few hours later and is perfectly fine the rest of the day. My sister took my niece and Diva to get their hair and nails done--which was something--they are all about the big hair down in Texas. The day was uneventful after that--things were looking good.

Until Friday morning. . .

Rage, Diva, and Banana(my niece) all wake up at the crack of some ungodly hour and, you guessed it, puked. Here's the thing--I would rather change a million diapers than clean up puke--it's disgusting, every time, without fail. My nephew was oddly unaffected by this whole thing; he went to school while my sister and I found every garbage can in the house(except the big one in the kitchen) so that everyone had their own "barf bucket". Then we Lysol-ed everything. Our plans for the day were scrapped. Much like Thursday with Rage, all three kiddos were playing and back to normal by lunch time.

So what am I thinking--besides that I had already been feeling "off" and if I have to clean up more puke I'm going to kill someone--I'm thinking, what are the odds that we will get back to Colorado on Saturday without anyone getting sick. You see DH and I do the drive back in one day--that's a LONG time to put two puking time bombs in the back seat.

Saturday. . .

I went out and bought a couple of "barf buckets" for the car(with garbage bag liners) and we headed back to Colorado. And guess what? No one got sick. The drive was long, boring, and uneventful--thank goodness. I still couldn't knit and my theory is that I had some mild form of the puking sickness or by Saturday I was still reliving the joy of cleaning up puke for the last two days making knitting impossible.

We got home Saturday night and the last hour of our drive was a snow filled wonderland of white knuckle driving goodness. Let me say yet again that I hate snow.

Yesterday everyone was fine.

Today. . .

Rage wakes up at an ungodly hour and pukes, again. Diva warns me before I take her to school that "she feels sick, but not sick" whatever that means. She didn't have a fever nor did she barf all over the place, so she went to school(and I'm waiting for the phone call saying she barfed all over her classroom).

Doesn't that sound like a great vacation; I'm sure you all wish you could have shared in the magic with me. After I clean for a bit this morning, I AM going to sit and knit--I think I deserve it. ;)

Jaywalker 2(for me)

Jaywalker 3(for Stacey)

I've turned the heel on both, now I'm heading into foot "no man's land". My biggest concern at this point is whether there is enough yarn in one ball to finish a sock. I only made the cuffs 5.5 inches and I remember from the last time I made these socks that I had a ton of yarn leftover, but I think it will be REALLY close this time. Keep your fingers crossed. These will actually be heading into the knitting bag for a few days, because it's time to stitch.

Misty Weniera, Swimming with Dolphins, and I Love Thee will all be spending some time in the Qsnaps this coming week. I want to get enough of I Love Thee done to post a pic. I have a feeling that until I get to another page with that one it will be very difficult to photograph(too much white on white).

Little Diva starts her fall break tomorrow so I'll be offline for a little while. Have a great weekend and Happy Crafting!

Yes, I have been knitting.

Harry Potter Fair Isle Pouch Bag(Gryffindor)

It just needs a lining and fringe and it's done. I struggled through the crochet last night--the bottom and sides weren't too bad but the strap was a nightmare. I really hate crochet(and I say that because I can't do it well and it is in no way a reflection on people who make stuff that doesn't look like a ball of misshapen knots).

Hermione Hat

Here's some more Little Diva sweatshop knitting. I need it done by the end of the month.

I've participated since its inception and this year will be no exception.

3 pairs on deck:

Horcrux socks
One done, one needs to get done

For moi

For Stacey, who is more than welcome to hop on the Little Diva sweatshop bandwagon--after she returns from Russia, that is ;) безопасные путешествия, мой друг (or safe travels my friend)
